Robert Lewandowski has sent shockwaves through Bayern Munich by confirming via his agent that he wants to leave the club this summer.
The Bundesliga’s best striker, and one of the best centre-forwards in the world, wants a “new challenge” according to his new agent, Pini Zahavi.
Zavahi was involved in Neymar’s £198m world record transfer to Paris Saint-Germain last summer and now Poland star Lewandowski, 29, is agitating for a big-money move of his own.
“Robert feels he needs a change and a new challenge in his career,” Zahavi said. “The managers of Bayern know about it.”
Lewandowski scored 29 goals in 30 Bundesliga games this season and has 151 in 195 games in all competitions in total for Bayern.
Real Madrid are long-standing admirers of the striker but a move to the Premier League is also likely to be speculated upon as he assesses his options.
