Argentine friendly excites Super Eagles goalkeeper

Super Eagles goalkeeper Ikechukwu Ezenwa has described his side’s international friendly match against Argentina as a positive development for Nigeria.

The three-time African champions will confront the former world champions in an international friendly match on Tuesday, 14 November at the Krasnodar Arena Stadium in Krasnodar, Russia.

Ezenwa said no other friendly will be as high profile as the clash against the South American giants as a build-up for the upcoming 2018 Fifa World Cup in Russia.

“It’s a good development playing the former world champions and South American giants, Argentina in a top grade international friendly match in Russia, where next year’s World Cup will be holding.

“The friendly match will help us greatly in preparing for the upcoming 2018 Fifa World Cup in Russia.

“The friendly is a grade A clash and a very good and quality build-up for the World Cup.

“It’s an international friendly match with a difference as it is going to give us another world of confidence going into the World Cup proper.

“Playing a top-most football country in a pre-World Cup friendly and coming to face similar sides in the World Cup will make life quite easy for us.

“I’m personally looking forward to the all-important international friendly clash against Argentina.

“I’m concentrating and focusing 100% on the clash as the platform will further put us on world focus throughout the duration of the encounter.

“The clash is an important one for us more especially as it is coming up in Russia the hosts of the next World Cup,” said the FC IfeanyiUbah shot stopper to supersport.com.

Ezenwa disclosed that though the league season is on break, he is continuing with his personal build-up for the dead rubber World Cup qualifying clash against Algeria.

“I’m supposed to be on holiday but I do not call it outright a holiday, rather a working holiday as I have a huge task ahead of me.

“Although we have qualified for the Russia 2018 World Cup, but the last group game against Algeria is still a huge one for us same as the international friendly against Argentina.

“I’m not on holiday as I’m steadily working very hard to keep a perfect shape for the tasks ahead of us,” said former Sunshine Stars goal tender.

The Eagles will face their north Africans counterparts, the Fennecs, in Blida for the last group World Cup qualifying clash on 10 November. Nigeria have already won the sole ticket for the group that includes reigning African champions, Cameroon, Zambia and Algeria.
