Barcelona forward Luis Suarez should have been on Ballon d’Or shortlist, says Thiago Alcantara

Former Barcelona player Thiago Alcantara believes Luis Suarez is unlucky not to be on the three-man shortlist for the Ballon d’Or – and feels that voters should have included him.
Barcelona pair Lionel Messi and Neymar make up the final shortlist alongsideReal Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo – with the winner of the 2015 award due to be announced next week.
The third member of the club’s prolific frontline, Suarez, will not be in attendance, however, something that Thiago believes is unfortunate. The Spain international believes the Uruguayan has been an integral part of the club’s recent success.
“Right now, all three of them are deserving of being in the running for the Ballon d’Or,” Thiago said.
“They’re a fabulous trio, just like the tridents made up of Xavi, Leo and [Andres] Iniesta, or Messi, [Samuel] Eto’o and [Thierry] Henry were. It’s only at the end of your career when you can look back and assess things.
“They’re well on track to become one of the best attacking trios in the history of the game.”
Thiago left Barcelona for Bayern Munich in 2013, linking up with manager PepGuardiola. But with Guardiola set to leave the club in the summer, the 24-year-old acknowledged that his long-term future might not necessarily lie at the Allianz Arena.
“At present, I feel really good where I am,” he said. “Further down the line, we’ll have to see what happens.
“I enjoy being where I am now, and I want to lift silverware with Bayern.”
