Cancer patient Bradley Lowery receives heartwarming visit from Sunderland’s Jermain Defoe

Five-year-old Sunderland fan Bradley Lowery is an inspiration. The youngster was re-diagnosed with cancer last summer, having already fought against the disease earlier in his short life.

The treatment that Bradley needs is not available to him in the United Kingdom, meaning his family are attempting to raise enough money to fund his treatment overseas.

And the campaign has brought Bradley into the public eye, no more so than at his beloved Sunderland Football Club.

The youngster’s relationship with the club continued when he received a welcome visit from one of his heroes yesterday, with striker Jermain Defoe spending time with him – a special treat for a special young man.

It’s such a heartwarming picture and commendable of Defoe to help raise the profile of Bradley’s plight. But there’s still an awful long way to go to raise the funds that he needs.
