Cavaliers down Heat, Warriors remain unbeaten

LeBron James scored 29 points as the Cavaliers beat the Miami Heat 102-92 in their home opener, while Stephen Curry scored 25 points in 28 minutes as the Golden State Warriors continued their dominance of the Houston Rockets.

Cavaliers 102, Heat 92
Cleveland Cavaliers forward Kevin Love scored 24 points and grabbed 14 rebounds, and LeBron James scored 29 points, as the Cavaliers beat the Miami Heat 102-92 in their home opener.
Love has had double-doubles in his last two games, and his consecutive three-pointers late in the third quarter gave the Cavs some space after the Heat had closed the deficit to three.

Jazz 99, 76ers 71
Derrick Favors had 20 points and 12 rebounds as the Utah Jazz routed the Philadelphia 76ers 99-71.
Rodney Hood added 17 points and Alec Burks scored 15 off the bench for Utah (1-1). Rudy Gobert, a native of France known as the “Stifle Tower,” had eight points, 11 rebounds and six blocked shots.

Pistons 98, Bulls 94 (overtime)
Marcus Morris poured in 26 points and Andre Drummond racked up 20 points and 20 rebounds as the Detroit Pistons remained unbeaten with a 98-94 overtime victory over the Chicago Bulls at The Palace.

Raptors 113, Celtics 101
Toronto forward DeMarre Carroll scored 21 points, 10 of them in a 4:12 span of the third quarter, and Terrence Ross poured in 13 in the fourth quarter to propel the Raptors to a 113-101 victory over the Boston Celtics.

Thunder 139, Magic 136 (double overtime)
Oklahoma City’s Russell Westbrook scored 48 points and Kevin Durant had 43 to lead the Thunder to a stirring 139-136 double-overtime victory over theOrlando Magic.
The Thunder (2-0) erased an 18-point deficit in the fourth quarter, then led through most of both overtimes.

Hawks 97, Hornets 94
The Atlanta Hawks, 35-6 at home a year ago, avoided starting 0-2 at Philips Arena this season and in the process gave coach Mike Budenholzer his 100th victory.
Charlotte’s Kemba Walker missed a three-pointer at the buzzer and the Hawks, up by 14 points in the fourth quarter, held on for a 97-94 victory over the Hornets.

Wizards 118, Bucks 113
Bradley Beal scored 36 points and Ramon Sessions had 23 as the Washington Wizards rallied in the fourth quarter for a 118-113 victory over the Milwaukee Bucks at the BMO Harris Bradley Center.
Beal and Sessions led the late charge, scoring 14 and 12 points in the final 12 minutes. They were especially lethal from long range, combining to connect on six of seven from beyond the arc, and sank threes on three consecutive possessions to give Washington a 111-104 lead with two minutes to play.

Spurs 102, Nets 75
San Antonio, led by Kawhi Leonard’s 16 points, got double-figure scoring from six players and rode a stout defense and a balanced attack to a 102-75 victory over the Brooklyn Nets Friday in the Spurs’ home opener.
Trailing by five points entering the third quarter, San Antonio got four straight baskets from Tony Parker and two from Leonard. The Spurs outscored Brooklyn 34-17 in the quarter and then began the fourth with a 16-4 run to put the game to bed.

Timberwolves 95, Nuggets 78
Karl-Anthony Towns scored 28 points and grabbed 14 rebounds and theMinnesota Timberwolves spoiled the Denver Nuggets’ home opener with a 95-78 win.
Andrew Wiggins added 18 points for the Timberwolves, who will take a 2-0 record into their first home game against Portland on Sunday.

Warriors 112, Rockets 92
Stephen Curry scored 25 points in 28 minutes as the Golden State Warriors continued their dominance of the Houston Rockets with a 112-92 victory at Toyota Center.

Kings 132, Lakers 114
Rajon Rondo had 21 points and eight assists, many of them during a dominant first quarter, and the Sacramento Kings ran away from Kobe Bryant and the Los Angeles Lakers 132-114 at Sleep Train Arena.
Rondo, who was held to four points and four assists in Sacramento’s season-opening 111-104 loss to the Los Angeles Clippers, scored 10 points in the first quarter and led a 33-10 run that put the Kings ahead by double digits for the entire game.

Suns 110, Trail Blazers 92
Eric Bledsoe and Brandon Knight combined for 40 points as the Phoenix Suns outlasted the Portland Trail Blazers 110-92.
The Suns evened their record at 1-1 and the Trail Blazers fell to 1-1. The teams play again on Saturday at Portland.
Bledsoe had 22 points thanks to 10-of-11 free throw shooting. Knight added 18 points, while Tyson Chandler had 15 and 13 rebounds while patrolling the paint for the Suns.
