Danny Ings’ season over after Liverpool suffer another cruciate setback

Ings’ season looks to be over after the 23-year-old suffered a cruciate knee injury.

The former Burnley striker appeared as a second-half substitute in England’s 3-0 victory over Lithuania in midweek, but will now sit the rest of the 2015/16 campaign out.

Ings had returned to Melwood to take part in his first training session under new manager Jurgen Klopp, but was forced out of action midway through.

Reporting the news for the Independent, Simon Hughes revealed that “Klopp did not know the severity of Ings’ problem when he spoke to the media at his first pre-match press conference before Liverpool’s trip to Tottenham Hotspur.”
