Drogba was sat between Abramovich and the club’s new manager Guus Hiddink, who was appointed until the end of the season on Saturday.

Journalist Baudelaire Mieu quoted a source as telling Jeune Afrique: “He’s happy to return to Chelsea. It’s the club closest to his heart, even if he felt betrayed by Jose Mourinho, who had not met all obligations to him when he returned to England during the 2014-15 season.”
Daily Telegraph writers Matt Law and Jason Burt have also reported that Abramovich is considering “asking Drogba to return as part of a new coaching set-up”.
“Abramovich remains incredibly close to Drogba from the striker’s two playing stints at the club and has made no secret of the fact he is keen for the Ivorian to take a position at Chelsea when he retires,” the pair explained in a joint column.
