Eagles dealt another blow as Amodu dies

Just days after the sudden death of Stephen Keshi Nigerians have awoken today reeling from the death of another football icon.

Shaibu Amodu has died.

Amodu, who coached the Super Eagles at four different times, was said to have complained of chest pains on Friday night, and died in his sleep, according to the official NFF Twitter handle.


Amodu and Keshi [above] were close friends and they worked as head coach and assistant coach of the Super Eagles to the 2002 Africa Cup of Nations where they finished third.

In as much as the pair helped Nigeria qualify for the 2002 World Cup, they were fired before the tournament.

The Super Eagles fraternity already in mourning will now have to come to grips on how to handle this second cruel blow within a week.
