Football fans across UK were not happy with the water breaks on Saturday’s Premier League games around the country as they booed players having water breaks to cope with the sweltering conditions on Saturday.
Teams were given a 90 second break after 25minutes to rehydrate as temperatures reached 30C is some parts of the UK, prompting BBC Match of the Day presenter Gary Lineker to say ‘We’ve got water breaks all over the place. The game’s gone’.
Despite temperatures of 30C in the shade at Upton Park where West Ham lost 4-3 to Bournemouth and 28C in Norwich’s 1-1 draw with Stoke, fans didn’t take kindly to having their afternoon’s entertainment interrupted.
There were similar scenes in the game between Tottenham and Leicester where temperatures also reached 28C.
Leicester fans were given a laugh when midfielder Danny Drinkwater stopped to live up to his name during the break.
