Nigeria international striker, Odion Ighalo scored a brace for Watford in the Hornets’ 2-1 win over Newcastle United at St. James’ Park on Saturday.
Ighalo who has been in sparkling form in front of goal this season, fired inside the near post from close range to put his side in front following an Etienne Capoue assist in the 10th minute.
The striker made it 2-0 to the visitors in the 28th minute and it was a thing of beauty as the visitors notched up their second Barclays English Premier League win of the season.
He successfully sprung the offside trap as he got to a precise through ball from Troy Deeney and rounded the Newcastle United goalkeeper, Tim Krul before planting emphatically unto an unguarded net.
It was his second and third goals in as many matches following his winner against Watford at Vicarage Road on September 12.
Daryl Janmaat pulled a goal back for Newcastle in the second half but Ighalo’s goals proved to be enough for the maximum points in the end.
Ighalo has now scored four league goals this season.
The forward has now scored 20 goals in 24 appearances for Watford in 2015.
No other player in the four tiers of English football has matched that total this year.
Ighalo has been called up to the Nigeria squad for the next round of internationals against Congo Democratic Republic and Cameroun in October.
