There are currently four players fighting for the final spot with the Golden State Warriors.
With just two preseason games remaining for the 2015 champions, time is running out for players to stake their claim.
JaVale McGee, Cameron Jones, Phil Pressey and Elliot Williams are the guys in contention, but only one can take the final slot, and head coach Steve Kerr has given a strong indication to who it might be.
McGee is the highest profile player on the list. He is the guy who fits the needs of the franchise more than others, and it seems he is in pole position to secure the 15th spot.
According to Anthony Slater, Warriors beat writer for the San Jose Mercury, Kerr said the former Denver Nuggets man has a ‘good chance’ of securing the position.
The 28-year-old is fighting for his NBA career after an underwhelming spell with the Washington Wizards before failing to stick with the Nuggets, Philadelphia 76ers or Dallas Mavericks. He also has two MVP awards from Shaqtin a fool – something no player wants.
However, the big man certainly has the ability to make a success of his stay in the Bay Area. He offers the presence and protection in the paint that the Warriors require, and he could certainly work around the All-Star talent at their disposal.
