Jesse Lingard scores first Manchester United goal to sink West Brom

Jesse Lingard scored a superb first Manchester United goal as Louis van Gaal’s side edged past West Brom to keep the pressure on Arsenal and Manchester City.
After a goalless first half that saw United go close through Juan Mata andAnthony Martial, United fans were bracing themselves for another stalemate.
But the game exploded into action seven minutes after the break when Lingard, seizing on a poor headed clearance by Chris Brunt, bent a fantastic shot inside the far post in front of the Stretford End.
West Brom stayed in the game and should have drawn level when Saido Berahino found space in the box, but somehow put his header high and wide, before Mata converted an injury time penalty after Gareth McAuley was red carded for a foul on Martial, who was clean through.
