Jon Jones has a new opponent for UFC 197, with UFC president Dana White announcing Saturday that Ovince Saint Preux will replace the injured Daniel Cormier at the event on April 23 in Las Vegas.
The co-main event fight will be for the interim light heavyweight title.
Jones and Cormier were set for a rematch for the light heavyweight belt, but Cormier was forced to withdraw from the fight Friday due to a leg injury.
Despite Cormier’s late exit, Jones insisted he wanted to remain on the card at UFC 197, with the 28-year-old fighting for the first time since he was suspended following an April 2015 arrest on felony hit-and-run charges.
Saint Preux has won three of his last four fights, most recently earning a unanimous decision victory over Rafael Cavalcante in February.
