Kris Commons salvages point for Celtic against Fenerbahce

Celtic’s miserable Europa League campaign ended with a 1-1 draw with Fenerbahce in Istanbul, a result which sees the Turkish giants progress to the last 32 of the competition.
The home side were gifted the opener when Lazar Markovic, on loan fromLiverpool, took advantage of Craig Gordon’s blunder to slip the ball into the net after the Scotland goalkeeper misjudged the bounce racing from his line.
Fenerbahce were reduced to ten men when Diego was sent off for kicking out at Stefan Johansen midway through the second half and the Hoops took advantage with substitute Kris Commons netting the equaliser.
But Vítor Pereira’s side held on for the point they needed to qualify along with group winners Molde.Reuters
Ronny Deila’s men finish bottom of the group with three draws, and without a win as they now aim to recover in their bid to retain the Scottish Premiership that gives them access to the Champions League qualifiers starting in July.
