Last-gasp Newcastle stun Tottenham

Ayoze Perez struck a late winner as Newcastle secured a surprise 2-1 victory at Tottenham.
The Magpies produced a magnificent second-half fightback to propel themselves out of the relegation zone and end Tottenham’s long unbeaten Premier League run.
Steve McClaren’s side didn’t look capable of building upon last Sunday’s win over Liverpool as the hosts completely dominated a first half in which they should have had more than Eric Dier’s header to show for it.
The Magpies were grateful to Rob Elliot for some inspired goalkeeping, but hit back with an impressive showing after the interval that was transformed by two key substitutions.
First, Aleksandar Mitrovic tapped-in from close range within two minutes of emerging from the bench before Ayoze Perez capped a dazzling cameo by firing a last-gasp winner through Hugo Lloris, stirring up echoes of last season when he was also the matchwinner.
It saw Newcastle claim back-to-back league victories for the first-time in 42 matches, which was perhaps not as surprising as the form book would suggest as the Geordies have now won three games on the bounce at White Hart Lane.
The result moves McClaren’s men up to 15th in the league, above championsChelsea, while Spurs miss out on the chance to edge into the top four with their first Premier League loss since the opening day.
