Late Mousa Dembele strike earns Tottenham victory over Anderlecht

A late strike from Mousa Dembele moved Tottenham to the top of Europa League Group J after a 2-1 win over Anderlecht at White Hart Lane.
With the scores locked at 1-1 with just three minutes of normal time to play, the Belgian international – who had just come on as a substitute minutes earlier – smashed a shot from 25 yards into the back of the net.
Harry Kane had previously put Spurs ahead with a goal on 29 minutes – his fifth goal in three games and his first in Europe for 364 days – but Anderlecht fought back in the second-half and levelled on 72 minutes through substitute Imoh Ezekiel.
Mauricio Pochettino named a strong starting eleven – which included England players Eric Dier and Delle Alli – and he was rewarded with an impressive performance to avenge his side’s disappointing 2-1 loss in the reverse fixture to their Belgian opponents a fortnight ago.
The win means Spurs are now top of Group J with seven points from four games – a point above Monaco who drew 1-1 with Azerbaijan side Qarabag earlier in the evening.
