Leon Haslam has paid tribute to his Aprilia team after he finished 2015 on a high with victory in the season finale in Qatar on Sunday.
After watching from the garage while his teammate Jordi Torres clinched his maiden SBK victory in Race 1 at the Losail International Circuit, Haslam bounced back in brilliant fashion to win Race 2.
He didn’t even get going on the opening race due to a problem with his Aprilia, but he more than made up for it later in the evening as he won an epic battle with Chaz Davies from Ducati to take his second win of the season.
Haslam, who doesn’t have a race seat for next year despite finishing the campaign fourth in the standings, hailed the team for their efforts when things didn’t go their way.
“The last few rounds we have had a few technical issues and that really hindered my race results,” he said.
“Race 1 was a disaster and to bounce back with a win in Race 2, and at the last round was [great]. Big credit to the team. They are such a fantastic team, they never give up and even though things were looking bad at a few of the rounds they were always behind me.
“Big thanks to Aprilia and all the guys. I can go home happy now.”
