Liverpool FC have banned The Sun from Anfield and their training ground Melwood due to its coverage of the Hillsborough disaster.
The Independent report that media accreditations requests from The Sun will not be approved, and that the paper will have no access to club manager Jurgen Klopp or its players.
After the tragedy in 1989, the paper published the headline ‘The Truth’, which accused Liverpool fans of urinating on police and pickpocketing the dead.
The Hillsborough Independent Panel report, published back in 2012, debunked the allegations made in the paper and in April last year, an inquest into the disaster found that the 96 fans who died were unlawfully killed.
Many in the city of Liverpool have boycotted the paper over their coverage and the decision to extend that boycott inside the club was reportedly taken after directors met with the families of those who died in the disaster.
