Marta wins Best Fifa Women’s Player

Brazil’s Marta Vieira da Silva won Fifa’s best women’s player of the year prize on Monday, at the BEST Fifa Awards evening in London.

The 32-year-old forward was recognised as the best ahead of her peers, in a category where she was nominated alongside Norwegian Ada Hegerberg and German national captain, Dzsenifer Marozsan.

Marta’s crowning comes at the back of an outstanding achievements during 2017/18, where she captained Brazil to the Copa america title and helped her club side Orlando Pride to a long run in arguably the most challenging women’s league in world football: the USA’s National Women’s Soccer League.
