Naomi Broady advances at WTA Katowice

There was brighter news for British tennis at WTA Katowice as Naomi Broady overcame Italy’s Karin Knapp on Tuesday – a day on from Heather Watson’s surprise first round defeat.
Broady shrugged off the loss of a first set tie-break to progress with a 6-7(6) 6-4 6-4 win in two hours and 16 minutes.
On Monday, Watson crashed out to Kristyna Pliskova after an erratic display.
It was a strong day for the seeds in Poland as third seed Jelena Ostapenkoadvanced with a 6-1 6-1 demolition of Daniela Hantuchova, while fourth and fifth seeds Alize Cornet and Camila Giorgi also progressed.
