Neil Robertson whitewashes Mark Selby to set up UK final meeting with Liang Wenbo

Neil Robertson completed a crushing 6-0 win over close rival Mark Selby to move within one win of winning a second UK Championship at the Barbican Centre in York.
The 2013 UK champion has been in impressive form to reach the final in completing wins over Stephen Maguire, Johh Higgins and world number Selby – who he downed 10-7 to win the UK crown two years ago – and will start as a hot favourite to overcome China’s Liang Wenbo over the best-of-19 frames on Sunday.
A prize of £150,000 is available to the winner of snooker’s second biggest ranking event behind the World Championship.
Robertson edged a couple of close frames against the 2014 world champion Selby to establish a 4-0 lead and grew in confidence as Selby visibly wilted with the clinical nature of Robertson’s break-building grinding down the Leicester man, who is renowned for a superior tactical and potting approach in the game.
A 6-0 scoreline was probably not a fair reflection of the gap between the two men, but the outcome was correct. Not that Robertson was complaining about such straightforward progress.a 6-0 win over Mark Selby. – Eurosport
“I outselbied Selby,” said Robertson. “I know that anybody can turn over anybody on their day in snooker these days.
“The results here have proven it this week.”
Robertson recovered from trailing 52-0 in the first frame to win it on the black before a run of 68 handed him the second frame after he was 55-1 behind.
Further knocks of 53 and 39 helped the Melbourne 2010 world champion move 4-0 to the good, and it was a lead that he never looked liked relinquishing with Selby a good second best on the night without ever playing at his best.
China’s Liang Wenbo celebrated like he had won the UK Championship after overcoming David Grace 6-4 in a turgid semi-final that lasted a minute short of five hours and included only one break over 50 from both men.
