Two bookmakers are reported to have suspended betting on Chelsea boss Antonio Conte being the next Premier League manager to be sacked.
Paddy Power and Betway suspended their markets on Thursday afternoon, while other bookies were forced to cut their odds after a flurry of bets.
Paddy Power released the following statement: “It sounds like Antonio gone-te, according to our bettors at least. Atletico manager Diego Simeone, who recently reduced his contract with La Liga leaders, is our favourite to be next Blues boss – with Bournemouth’s Eddie Howe the leading English contender.”
With Conte being heavily backed this afternoon to get the sack from #CFC Diego Simeone is the fav to replace him.
However, Sky Sports reported later on Thursday that the speculation was “absolute nonsense”.

Conte remains the favourite to get sacked with a number of other bookmakers including SkyBet, BetVictor, Ladbrokes, Betfair and William Hill.
The latter released a statement of their own, saying: “Thursday afternoon have seen a couple of weighty wagers on Conte being cut and while we haven’t seen enough to suspend, the odds have come in considerably.”
Conte only took over as Chelsea manager in the summer as he replaced interim boss Guus Hiddink once his contract with Italy ended and the Blues currently sit seventh in the table after four wins, one draw and two defeats in their opening seven games.
The betting being suspended came hours after Chelsea had announced a new long term commercial partnership with Nike.
