Olivier Giroud nets at both ends as Arsenal beat Sunderland

Olivier Giroud scored the winner to atone for his first half own goal as Arsenal returned to winning ways against a spirited Sunderland at the Emirates.
Sunderland started the stronger and Fabio Borini could have given them a third-minute lead when he was sent clean through, but Petr Cech made a vital stop.
But the Black Cats fell behind against the run of play when Mesut Ozil spotted the run of Joel Campbell, who got behind the stranded DeAndre Yedlin to slide the ball under Costel Pantilimon.
Sam Allardyce’s side drew level just before the break in fortuitous circumstances when Giroud swiped at Yann M’Vila’s dangerous free-kick from the left, sending it straight into his own net.
Sunderland could have sneaked ahead when Steven Fletcher almost poked the ball in from a yard out, but Cech pulled off another superb save from point-blank range.
That moment proved crucial as Arsenal took the lead a few minutes later through Giroud, who threw himself at Aaron Ramsey’s delicate cross from the left to glance the ball in at the near post, before Ramsey wrapped up the win late on, scrambling in a third.
Arsenal move into second place with the victory, two points behind leadersLeicester.
