The Washington Redskins have reached a deal with free-agent tight end Vernon Davis, CBS Sports’ Jason La Canfora reports.
It’s a one-year deal, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Davis, 32, was born in Washington, D.C., and attended college at Maryland, so it’s a homecoming of sorts.
The veteran spent the first nine-and-a-half seasons of his career with the San Francisco 49ers before being traded to the Denver Broncos midway through the 2015 campaign. He won a Super Bowl ring with the Broncos, though he didn’t catch a single pass in the playoffs.
With the Redskins, Davis will serve as depth behind emerging star Jordan Reed.
