Atlanta Hawks swingman Thabo Selofosha and ex-NBA player Pero Antic will both files civil suits against the New York City Police Department over last April’s incident outside a New York nightclub, ESPN’s Kevin Arnovitz reports.
Sefolosha infamously suffered a broken right fibula during his arrest – an injury that ended his season with the Hawks. He was later found not guilty on all three charges placed against him by the NYPD.
“There’s a lot of unknown about how this will affect me two years from now, five years from now, 10 years from now,” Sefolosha told ESPN’s Hannah Storm back in October. “Also because I think it’s the right approach to put lights in a situation like this and to … fight back in a legal way and in a way that can empower, hopefully, more people.”
Antic – who is currently a member of Fenerbahce Instanbul in Turkey – was also arrested during the incident.
Antic has reportedly already filed his suit, while Sefolosha will file his later in the week.
