Former Chicago Cubs catcher Taylor Teagarden has been suspended 80 games for violating Major League Baseball’s drug policy.
Teagarden appeared in an Al-Jazeera TV documentary titled “The Dark Side,” and admitted he used a banned substance in 2015. Several other major leaguers were also labelled as dopers in the documentary, including Ryan Howard and Ryan Zimmerman.
Howard and Zimmerman sued Al-Jazeera over the report and denied taking any performance-enhancing drugs.
Legendary NFL quarterback Peyton Manning was the most notable athlete named in the report, which alleged his wife had human growth hormone sent to her while Manning was recovering from neck surgery in 2011.
Teagarden, who is still a free agent, appeared in eight games for the Cubs and 63 more in the minors last season.
