Tottenham Hotspur outclass West Ham as Harry Kane scores twice

Tottenham Hotspur underlined their burgeoning top-four credentials with a comprehensive 4-1 Premier League win over West Ham at White Hart Lane.
After a slow start, Kane broke the deadlock when Dele Alli’s shot ran into his path for him to fire into the top corner. 10 minutes later, Toby Alderweireld doubled Spurs’ lead when he glanced in Christian Eriksen’s corner at the near post. Alli almost sealed the match when his header crashed against the crossbar, and West Ham’s best chance came from a Chekhou Kouyate overhead kick which should have been ruled offside.
Kane missed an easy one-on-one horribly, but atoned early in the second half when he seized on a terrible pass from West Ham out of defence, shooting early from outside the box to beat Adrian. With West Ham well beaten, Spurs finally added a fourth with a superb, late shot from Kyle Walker.
Manuel Lanzini grabbed a late goal for West Ham, but it was nothing more than a consolation for Slaven Bilic’s side, who struggled without the injured Dimitri Payet.
Tottenham have taken 21 points from the last 27 available and have not lost in the Premier League since the opening day. They are four points behind leaders Leicester but only two adrift of Manchester City and Arsenal who both lost on Saturday.
