Niger Tornadoes defender, Lateef Adeshina, is excited by the chance of playing in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).
The centre-back played a major role in the promotion of the Minna club from the Nigeria National League (NNL).
Adeshina has never played in the top division, and he is hoping that his club would not make up the numbers when they return to the NPFL next season for the first time in three years.
The former Bida Lions man also acknowledged that the chance of playing in the top division “will surely come with its challenges.”
“It is a great feeling that I played a part in the promotion of Niger Tornadoes to the elite league. I have not played in the premier league (NPFL) before, now I am looking forward to that opportunity and I am praying that we have a good outing when we start playing in the league next season,” Adeshina told supersport.com.
“I have never played in the premier league (NPFL) before so I don’t know what to expect. As a footballer I can only be excited with the chance of playing in the league. It might be difficult and may be it won’t be. But I am really looking forward to my debut in the league next season, hopefully.”
Adeshina played all of Niger Tornadoes’ six matches in the second round of the NNL that culminated in their promotion to the top flight.
